About the Wordsmith

Lisa Howard is a freelance writer and editor with degrees in Anthropology and German Language & Literature.  In addition to German, she speaks Spanish and is a certified ESL (English as a Second Language) instructor who has taught and translated in the U.S. and abroad.  Her professional experiences have also included creating and editing corporate communications, working as a translator at a major German automotive firm, and coaching individuals and groups on food/wellness issues.

In 2008, she decided to combine her interest in language and cooking by creating a culinary website and product line (www.theculturedcook.com).  Managing a business blog/website has made her realize the increasing importance of written communication in our lives...and the increasing need for professional wordsmiths to help facilitate that communication. 

She is committed to utilizing all aspects of her language background—writing, editing, teaching, translating, language-learning—to help her clients express their ideas with clarity and style.
